To our supporters and to Robinson's band students and their families: After 10 fulfilling years of awarding college scholarships to dedicated and talented Robinson band seniors, The Lunsford/Behrend Scholarship Fund is closing. It's been a great experience, honoring Jim Lunsford and Jack Behrend in this way, and we hope all of their former Robinson band students will continue to remember them fondly.
Over 10 years we were able to award $23,500 to highly deserving students. Our donors' gifts helped these talented musicians pursue higher education while staying involved in music.
If you want to continue supporting students like the Lunsford/Behrend scholars, we encourage you to contribute to the Robinson Band and Orchestra Parents Organization.
Thank you, donors, for recognizing the powerful, positive influence of band studies on students, who represent the promise of a bright future regardless of the personal or professional path they follow later in life. And thank you, students, for sharing your musical talents with those around you.
Our website will remain online for the time being, but we are moving all information to the Lunsford/Behrend Facebook page, where you'll see any updates or be able to stay in touch with others who follow the page.
For 10 years the Lunsford/Behrend Scholarship Fund has honored Robinson Secondary School band directors James G. Lunsford and Jack Behrend, who taught and inspired hundreds of students during their tenure at the Fairfax, Virginia, school during the 1970s. The scholarship has provided funding to deserving Robinson students to pursue higher education while staying involved in music.
