2007 Scholarship winner – Tiffany Hoffer
After graduating from Robinson in 2007, Tiffany Hoffer studied that summer at Boston's prestigious Tanglewood Institute summer band program.
In part, the essay portion of Hoffer's application
for the scholarship read: "Whether or not each individual student continues
with music after high school, the values instilled in the students by the
band program at Robinson will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
Whether they become engineers, math teachers, entrepreneurs or lawyers,
the confidence, self discipline and selflessness gained in high school band
are lifelong."
September 2008 – An update from Tiffany's father:
"Just a quick update for you and the other folks who made the Lunsford/Behrend Award possible. Tiffany is now in her sophomore year at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She auditioned against all the other trumpet students (grad students included) and won a positions in the top orchestra, the top wind ensemble, and the brass choir. She is also spearheading a trumpet ensemble with hopes of competing in the National Trumpet Competition here at GMU in the spring of 2009. On December 12th, she will perform a solo recital in one of the new recital halls. She is having a great experience and making huge strides, due in part to folks like you who have generously offered their support. Thanks again."
