2011 Scholarship Winner – Ainsley Paige Kilgo
Ainsley Paige Kilgo, Robinson class of 2011, was the Robinson band program vice president and first chair alto saxophone player. She played a second instrument, the oboe, in Concert Band. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has demonstrated leadership and a volunteer spirit at Robinson.
"I think it is each generation's responsibility
to continue teaching the arts and inspiring young people about the joys
of playing an instrument well," Kilgo wrote in the essay from her scholarship
application. "There is nothing like the emotional satisfaction of creating
live music. It is 'handmade' and different every time.
I have found
through this band that I would rather be practicing, learning, performing,
or teaching music that touches people's hearts than doing anything else."
